I think Tucker makes a great model for the park services :)
We packed up our tent after a beautiful sunrise and went to take in some scenery
Walsenburg, Co is flanked by the Spanish Peaks. This was our first close up experience with snow capped awesomeness
I went back and fished some the morning before we left and it was very nice, although I didn't even get a bite this time.
It was such a great experience traveling through the Rocky Mountains and getting up to an elevation of 11,312 feet at the top of Monarch Pass (where I made a snowball on June 3!). The temperature dropped nearly 20 degrees from the bottom of the mountain to the top.
I'm starting to really value our time in the car. There's always great music with the mix cds we created and the scenery is always, ALWAYS changing.
One of the towns that we stopped at was Salida, CO, where we saw the Arkansas River when it was much smaller than we were used to. The town had a lot of "small town charm" and we walked around looking for lunch and visited a few local shops. Once we got ready to eat, we headed to a picnic area in Riverside Park, overlooking the Arkansas River. We enjoyed seeing the character of the town and had an awesome picnic lunch!
Today was no different with the large variety of scenery we had the opportunity to drive through.
