Summer Adventure 2013 - Day 7

Today we left Philadelphia and started "part 2" of our vacation, where we are heading to New York to visit our friends.  We got out of the city without too much trouble and headed out eastward.  Our first stop was in Princeton, NJ.  We went to this local coffee shop called Small World Coffee, where Katy got her morning coffee.  The Princeton downtown area was fantastic!  It had lots of parking, lot of fun shops, and most everything was local small business.  After Katy got her coffee, we went to do a load of laundry at the laundromat in Princeton before we went to New York.  We did our laundry and went back downtown for some Ice-Cream at Thomas Sweet Ice-Cream, and it was amazing.  Katy got the raspberry sorbet, and I had one scoop of strawberry and one scoop of sweet cream.  Not only was it delicious, it was perfect for the heat wave the northeast was having at the time.  We also stopped back by Small World Coffee for Katy to pick up a t-shirt she spied earlier when we were in the store that said "Coffee makes you smarter."  Then we took off down the road toward New York, where we paid our first toll of the trip to get on I-278 toward the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.  We drove into New York without any problems and parked at the parking garage on Roosevelt Island where our friends live.  They were still at work, so we stopped by starbucks for a cold drink to combat the still hot weather, then picked up metro cards and went into Manhattan.  We only had a couple of hours before we wanted to be back, so we decided to stop by the American Museum of Natural History since we had been there a couple of times before.  This time we went up to the top first and made our way down, stopping at a few select exhibits such as the African mammals and an exhibit on various images from science.  Next, we grabbed a burger at Shake Shack by the museum and took the train back to Roosevelt Island where we met up with our friends and just hung out for the rest of the evening.  Looking forward to more New York tomorrow going to the Cloisters Museum!
